Reserves

Critical Impact

Being added to the MATCH list (also called TMF - Terminated Merchant File) effectively blacklists a business from accepting card payments for 5 years. It's extremely difficult to remove entries, and most acquirers automatically deny applications from MATCH-listed merchants.

Code 06 Update (February 2025)

Code 06 was previously "Reserved for Future Use" but was changed to "Coercion" in February 2025. This is a new reason code for rare situations where merchants are forced under threat to process fraudulent transactions. Most legacy documentation still shows "Reserved" for this code.

When to Report: Acquirers must report merchants to MATCH within 5 business days of making the termination decision for any of the 14 reason codes.

Removal Process

MATCH removal is intentionally difficult to prevent abuse:
